Wyoming's Snow Pack

The upper North Platte River valley had rather spotty snow levels this winter. For the basin as a whole, this morning the snow pack was 68 percent of normal. That is a bit misleading. South Brush Creek and Sage Basin, stations well below the areas we guide, have virtually no snow so they skew the average.

French Creek has 82 percent of normal and most of the stations that contribute to the Encampment or the Little Snake are in the 70 to 80 percent of normal.

What does this mean to you? Book early for early dates. The first two weeks in July will be the prime time for our streams. I still have some days available for trips with me, Preston Larimer and our newest guides Travis Knight and Duane Brandt. Fishing should remain good through the third week of July but will be tapering off. Of course, even marginal fishing by our standards is damm good!
